Something not working?
Three ways in, and which one you want depends mostly on whether the answer is useful to anybody else.
Ask on the forum
“How do I”, “is this normal”, “has anyone got this working with…”. Answers stay where the next person with the same question will find them, which is worth more than a private reply to both of you.
Open a ticket
Anything with your configuration, your logs or your organisation in it. Attach files, get a link back to the thread, no account to create. This is also the way in for commercial and partnership questions.
Report a security problem
If you think you have found a vulnerability, do not post it on the forum. Open a ticket and pick Security report, or write directly to meshhold@gmail.com. We will acknowledge it and tell you what we are doing about it.
What to expect, honestly
MeshHold is maintained by one person. There is no support rota, no 24/7 line, and no paid tier that jumps the queue yet — so an answer takes as long as it takes, and it is usually days rather than hours.
What you do get is that the person who answers wrote the code. You will not be asked to reinstall, clear your cache, or explain the problem twice to someone reading from a script.
Already sent something? Reply in the thread instead of opening another ticket — the link is in the confirmation email, and a second ticket about the same problem just splits the conversation in half.
What makes a report answerable
None of this is required. It is what turns one round trip into an answer instead of four rounds of questions.
- Version and platform.
meshhold version, and which OS — the same symptom often has different causes on Windows and Linux. - What you expected and what happened. “It does not work” and “the vault shows 0 files after a restart” are very different reports.
- When it started. After an update, after a network change, or always — this alone rules out most of the possibilities.
- Logs, with the secrets taken out. Swarm keys, passwords, tokens and vault keys are not needed to help and we would rather not have them.
- A diagnostics bundle if the app offers you one. It carries the config and the recent log without you having to find them.
